Praat is an excellent program for phonetics research that lets you make acoustic measurements of speech patterns.
Check out the Praat website to learn more about it. Praat also contains a scripting language that allows
you to automate many tasks in the program. Below are links to some Praat scripts available around the Internet. If

Be sure to also visit the Praat Users Group, a useful resource for discussing features and use of the program. The group has an extensive message archive and a file section that contains a number of handy scripts.
