About the Department History Awards Events Job Openings In and Around Iowa City
The aim of the Spiker Memorial Lecture series is to bring researchers to the University of Iowa who have had a significant impact on the field of developmental psychology. Our distinguished list of past speakers include Liz Bates, Judy DeLoache, Kurt Fischer, Megan Gunnar, Lewis Lipsitt, Esther Thelen, Bob Siegler, and Sheldon White. In selecting the speaker for the Spiker lecture each year, we place particular emphasis on scholars who have made substantial theoretical and empirical contributions to the understanding of the nature of development.

The Spiker Memorial Lecture honors the memory of Charles Spiker, developmental psychologist and long-time member of the Department of Psychology and the Iowa Child Welfare Research Station. This lecture series was endowed by Professor Spiker's former students and colleagues to bring leading developmental psychologists to the University of Iowa to present a lecture that honors Spiker's commitment to rigorous and innovative research in child development. ...More Information...
