Checklist for the Psychology Minor A Psychology minor requires completion of 15 semester hours of graded coursework in Psychology with a grade point average of at least 2.0. At least 12 of those 15 hours must be completed in the psychology department at the University of Iowa. Departmental prerequisite rules apply to students pursuing the minor. That is, all students must complete Elementary Psychology before any other Psychology course. Additionally, many lower-level courses require completion of 31:002 Biological Psychology as a prerequisite. All 100-level courses require the additional completion of a statistics course, a research methods course and the appropriate lower-level elective as prerequisites. Students can “declare” a minor on ISIS (Student Records section). Students must inform the Registrar’s Office of their desire to have a minor listed on their transcript at the time of applying for a degree.
Courses that require ONLY 31:001 as prerequisite:
Lower-level courses require BOTH 31:001 & 31:002 as prerequisites
100-Level courses require 31:001, 31:002, Statistics, 31:010 and one of the lower-level electives as prerequisites. |
