Second Call For Papers

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 18, 2006

This year, the workshop will be held at The University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA, October 20 through 22, 2006.

This workshop is intended to be an informal gathering of researchers working in all areas of phonology and phonetics. Faculty and students are both welcome to present.

This year, in addition to the regular sessions, we will be hosting a special session on Phonology at the Interface: Perception, Production, and Impairment, jointly sponsored by the Departments of Linguistics, Psychology, and Speech Pathology and Audiology.

Regular Session
Papers in theoretical or descriptive phonetics or phonology are invited for the regular session. Students are especially encouraged to present their work in progress.

Special Session
MCWOP 12 will feature a special session entitled Phonology at the Interface: Perception, Production and Impairment. Abstracts of papers to be presented in this session are also invited. This session will examine the ways in which work on phonology and phonological representations can inform the study of speech production, speech perception, speech recognition, and language and hearing impairment. It will also examine how work in these areas can in turn influence phonological theory.
