The Iowa Depression and Clinical Research Center (IDCRC) at the University of Iowa has been conducting research on women's emotional experiences during pregnancy and postpartum period since 1980. IDCRC is a joint project of the University of Iowa Department of Psychology and Department of Psychiatry.

IDCRC is currently developing more effective treatments for women who have difficulties with their mood before and after childbirth. Additionally, we are examining the long-term outcomes of mothers and children following an episode of postpartum depression. Finally, we are developing new methods to assess depression in pregnant and postpartum women.
