The Play Study will last 9-10 months. During the first 3-4 months, there will two 2-3-hour visits and one 1-hour visit to our lab at the Department of Psychology in Iowa City. There will be also 8 brief (half hour) play sessions (4 in your home, 4 in the lab). All those visits will be videotaped.

You will also be asked to play with your child daily for about 20-30 min, at your convenience, at home. Every other day, we will call you to ask a few brief questions about the play. To help you remember, we will give you a very simple diary, where you can record your play. Those telephone calls will last about 3-5 minutes.

Then, 6 months later, there will be one 3 ½ hour visit to our lab. That visit will be videotaped.

We will also ask you to complete questionnaires, either during the sessions or at your leisure (you will receive stamped envelopes to return the completed questionnaires by mail)
