ERP Boot Camp

SPECIAL 2-DAY VERSION: A 2-day version of the ERP Boot Camp is scheduled as a symposium prior to the annual meeting of the Society for Psychophysiological Research in October of 2006 in Vancouver, BC. The boot camp will be held on October 24-25. To register, simply register for the SPR meeting on the SPR web site (www.sprweb.org) and simultaneously register for the pre-conference symposium.

The ERP Boot Camp is an intensive introduction to the ERP technique, organized and led by Steve Luck. It focuses on the same topics covered in Luck's book, An Introduction to the Event-Related Potential Technique. The boot camp is intended for beginning and intermediate ERP researchers who would like to obtain a firm grasp of the fundamentals of ERP research. Registration is limited to 25 individuals.

Topics include:

1) Where do ERPs come from? What do they mean?
2) The design and interpretation of ERP experiments
3) Setting up an ERP lab
4) EEG data acquisition
5) Filtering, artifact rejection, and artifact correction
6) Measuring and analyzing ERP components
7) ERP localization

The boot camp consists of lectures on these topics, accompanied by discussions of classic and contemporary ERP papers and guided lab activities (e.g., EEG recording, filtering waveforms, measuring ERP components).

The next full-scale boot camp is tentatively scheduled for August of 2007 at the UC-Davis Center for Mind & Brain. We are currently seeking funding to enhance the boot camp and to reimburse travel, lodging, and registration expenses for the participants. If you are interested in attending and would like to get on the e-mail list, please send an e-mail to sjluck@ucdavis.edu.
