
These stimuli contain two relevant parts (the cross arms),and each of these two parts has two relevant attributes or features. The pronged part has either upward or downward turned prongs and is either short or long. The straight part has a gap on either the left or right side and is either short or long.
In our studies, subjects report pairs of attributes that are either on the same part or on different parts. Each object is presented briefly (between 100-150 ms), followed by a pattern mask. We find that subjects are more accurate reporting attributes that are on the same part than those that are on different parts (Vecera et al., in press).
